مسرحية جحا يحكم المدينة : أثناء الحفر لإقامة مترو الإنفاق خرج من تحت الارض جحا وحماره المدفونان من العصر العباسى،واربك خروجهما المرور فتم القبض على جحا(سميرغانم) وحماره،واجتمعت اللجان لتقرر مصير الشخصية التاريخية المشهورة،هل يتم عرضه للجمهور بتذاكر،ام يقام له متحف خاص،وأخيرا استقروا على وضعه وحماره فى حديقة الحيوان،والتذكره بشلن للمصريين ودولار للأجانب،وقام مدير الحديقة(غريب محمود)بوضع جحا فى بيت الفيل مكان زوجة الفيل التى ماتت والفيل مايعرفش،لأن ماحدش قال له.
لكن النصابة نجوى(إسعاد يونس) وبمساعدة المحامى الفاسد حب الرمان(احمد راتب)استطاعا تزوير الأوراق والمستندات التى تثبت ان نجوى حفيدة جحا وانها من حقها ان تتسلمه،وينتقل بحكم محكمة من القطاع العام للقطاع الخاص. تمكنت نجوى من اخراج جحا من حديقة الحيوان،والتجارة بشهرته،وجمع أموال من راغبى الدعاية،وقد طلب احد المرشحين لرئاسة البلد،ان يسير معه جحا امام الناخبين لتزيد شعبيته
وحينما عرض الامر على جحا رفض ان يعمل لحساب الغير،وقرر ان يترشح هو للرئاسة،وبالفعل ترشح وساعدته نجوى وحب الرمان من اجل الاستفادة من فوزه فى الانتخابات،بجمع الرشاوى من الراغبين فى الحصول على حق الغير. نجح جحا واكتشف الفساد والفاسدين،وان الجميع انتهازيون فاسدين وان البلد كلها جحا.
